About Me:: I am a retired teacher who has been doing gourd art for about 10 years. My style is very different from most gourd artists. I love beads and stained glass so I have incorporated both is my designs. I watch the gourds develop from blossoms to full size in my yard every year. As they grow they take on personalities. Each gourd is unique and demands a unique design.

Additional Details:: I am the 9th of 11 children. Most of us have our own creative bent. I have begun to market the artwork of my siblings as well as my own. Chuck is the painter. His style is unique with influences of Van Gogh, Matisse and others. His choice of scenery and colors demands a persons attention and inspires conversation.
What other skills and talents do you possess?: I love the challenges of gardening in the desert southwest. I fascinates me to see the life process unfold before my eyes. Eating my own, organically grown produce helps me keep my feet on the ground and appreciate all that Mother Earth provides.

I love to sing. I belong to an eclectic music group that does fund raisors for various organizations in our community.

I have several wild cats that I and my husband have caught and had nutered and spayed to prevent the severe overpopulation of feral cats in our cities. We feed them and they have befriended my dog.
From where do you draw your inspiration?: I draw my inspiration from two primary areas, nature and the bible. The Holy Family has been my roll model in raising my children and maintaining my marriage for the last twenty-five years. I am inspired by their faith and the everyday common challenges they faced and overcame to raise, arguably, the most inspiring individual in history. In my designs try to take a very common, plain piece of nature and make in an inspiring, individual object that creates awe and wonder in the person observing it. In nature all things have individual purposes and lives. Often each living thing depends on the health and life cycle of the individuals around them to survive and reproduce. In my designs each element is beautiful on its own but when paired with the surrounding elements creates a whole that, hopefully, makes one think of the beauty surrounding them.
